Norwegian Jade was alongside the Chugach Glacier Gateway Cruise Terminal in Whittier when fire hit on Sep. 14, 2026. The fire involved the tour boat Klondike Express. The Alaska fire marshal later called the dock a total loss. The ship moved away safely, took no ship damage, and embarkation shifted to Whittier Alaska Cruise Ship Terminal 1.
Norwegian Joy reached Sitka late on Sep. 17, 2026 after a deceased juvenile male fin whale was found on the bulbous bow. Removal took more than two hours with the U.S. Coast Guard, NOAA, and the Alaska Marine Mammal Stranding Network. The ship stayed about an hour longer in port.

Brilliant Lady ended Virgin Voyages' first Alaska season in early September after more than 15 sailings from late May. A mid-September reposition toward Los Angeles and fall Mexican Riviera cruises comes next. Separately, Virgin will put all four ships together on Feb. 16, 2027, about 38 nautical miles north of Nuevitas, Cuba.
