Ventura loses a night. Cherbourg is cancelled. The credit is for a future cruise.

Ventura’s cruise from Southampton is a night shorter. Cruise Hive, Melissa Mayntz, 25 Oct 2026, and Cruise Mummy, 25 Oct, both print a P&O email that moves embarkation from Saturday 24 Oct to Sunday 25 Oct. Cherbourg is off. The credit they describe is for a future P&O cruise, not cash back.
No P&O newsroom post for the email turned up in this check. The Saturday return clocks below are from the port feed, read 26 Oct. The schedule page says the list is provisional.
The photo on this page is the lead photo on the Cruise Hive story, Ventura in Southampton, credited to P.Cartwright. The caption does not date it to Sunday.
What the email says
Both articles say the note went out on Friday 23 Oct, about two days before the new embarkation day.
The sentence they print: due to the impact of Storm Austen and Storm Boelo, the Southampton operations team and the Port Authority delayed Ventura’s arrival into Southampton by 24 hours. Embarkation takes place one day later than planned, on Sunday 25 Oct.
Check-in times stay the clock you already had. The day moves from Saturday to Sunday. Cruise Hive says the port schedule, as that article read it, listed a 4:00 p.m. departure on Sunday. Cruise Mummy does not print that Sunday departure. The feed read on 26 Oct does not list a Sunday row. Do not treat 4:00 p.m. Sunday as a time you can still see on the port page.
The cruise was booked as 7 nights to France, Spain, and Portugal. It is now 6 nights. The return date in both articles is still Saturday 31 Oct. You lose the first night, not the last morning.
Cherbourg, and the ports that stay
The email both articles print cancels Cherbourg on Sunday 25 Oct. It cites recent protests and civil unrest in France. Cruise Hive says Cherbourg was the only French port, and that the late Southampton departure would have made the call impossible even without that sentence.
| Day | What both articles say |
|---|---|
| Sat 24 Oct | Original embarkation. Moved. |
| Sun 25 Oct | Embark instead. Cherbourg cancelled. |
| Tue 27 Oct | Porto |
| Wed 28 Oct | Lisbon. Cruise Mummy prints the date. Cruise Hive says Wednesday. |
| Thu 29 Oct | Vigo. Cruise Mummy prints the date. Cruise Hive says Thursday. |
| Sat 31 Oct | Southampton. No clock in either article. |
Neither article prints an arrival or a departure in Porto, Lisbon, or Vigo. If you bought a tour for one of those ports, the hours in your confirmation are still the hours to check. This note does not replace them.
The credit
Both articles say the compensation is a future cruise credit for one day of the fare. Cruise Hive calls it prorated to the value of one day. Cruise Mummy calls it one day’s proportionate value. It is for a future P&O Cruises booking. It is not cash.
The quotes do not say when the credit expires, or whether it covers taxes and fees. The articles also say the emails do not mention drink packages or Wi-Fi on the shorter cruise. If you prepaid either one, ask P&O. This check did not find a published rule.
Cruise Hive and Cruise Mummy both print comments from Facebook. One says the refund should be cash, because the guest is not getting the 7-night cruise they paid for. Another says the guest has no future P&O cruise planned. Those are comments the articles print. They are not a second offer from P&O.
Cruise Hive calls the ship a 3,192-guest ship. That count is not in the port feed, and Cruise Mummy does not print it.
What the port lists now
The feed was read on 26 Oct 2026. The Sunday arrival is no longer on it. Both articles say the schedule they checked listed 6:07 a.m. on Sunday 25 Oct. This file does not still show that row.
The row that is on the feed is the Saturday turn.
| Field | What the feed lists |
|---|---|
| Ship | Ventura, visit 14683568 |
| Arrival | Sat 31 Oct, 6:15 a.m. |
| Departure | Sat 31 Oct, 4:00 p.m. |
| Berth | 106, Mayflower Cruise Terminal |
| Agent | Carnival UK |
| Arrival stamp | 26/10/2026 09:39:56 |
| Departure stamp | 26/10/2026 09:40:18 |
The feed does not label a time zone on those stamps. It does not print Cherbourg, a credit, or a time you must be at the terminal. The 4:00 p.m. on this row is Saturday 31 Oct. It is not the Sunday departure Cruise Hive reported.
The schedule page says the time can move, and that you should confirm the terminal with the line. Berth 106 is the Mayflower terminal on that page.
This is a different ship from the Storm Austen notes already on this site. Iona cancels Getxo is the cruise that ended Saturday morning. Arvia, Virtuosa, and Preziosa reach Southampton on Thursday night is the early-arrival post. Ambition swaps Norway ports is the Bristol cruise. None of those is this 6-night.
What this means if you are on Ventura, or meeting the ship
If you are onboard, the cruise is 6 nights and Cherbourg is gone. Porto, Lisbon, and Vigo are the ports in the email. The articles do not print a fare refund. The credit they describe is one day, on a future P&O booking. If you prepaid drinks or Wi-Fi, the emails those articles print do not say what happens to them. Ask the ship.
If you got off the cruise that was due in on Saturday 24 Oct, the articles say the ship arrived at 6:07 a.m. Sunday. That row is no longer on the feed read today.
If you are meeting this ship on Saturday 31 Oct, the port lists 6:15 a.m. at the Mayflower terminal, berth 106. Those fields were stamped Monday morning. The page still says the time can move. Use P&O’s message for the pickup.
