Ambition swaps five Norway ports for a southern route

Photo: Skyshark Media · Cruise Hive · https://www.cruisehive.com/storms-austen-and-boelo-force-ambassador-ship-to-swap-five-norway-ports/221648
The short answerCruise Hive says Ambassador's Ambition, which left Bristol on 16 Oct 2026, still calls Alta on 23 Oct and then swaps the next five Norway ports for Andalsnes, Molde, Alesund, Bergen, and Stavanger. The line's Facebook post, as that article quotes it, cites storms Austen and Boelo. A Norwegian pilotage list read 23 Oct shows the ship bound for Andalsnes, Molde, and Alesund on those first three dates. No refund is printed.

Ambition is not staying on the northern Norway ports that were still ahead after this weekend. Cruise Hive, Melissa Mayntz, 23 Oct 2026, says Ambassador Cruise Line swapped five calls on the 17-night cruise that left Bristol on Friday 16 Oct.

Alta on Friday 23 Oct still happens, in that report. The next five days ashore move south. A Norwegian pilotage list, read the same day, shows the ship on the Andalsnes, Molde, and Alesund legs. It does not list Bergen or Stavanger.

The photo on this page is the lead photo on the Cruise Hive story, Ambition in the UK, credited to Skyshark Media. It is not a picture of the new ports.

The new dates, and the names that conflict

Cruise Hive’s replacement list is the one to pack for, with one wording problem in the old list.

DatePort Cruise Hive prints now
Fri 23 OctAlta, still on the cruise
Mon 26 OctAndalsnes
Tue 27 OctMolde
Wed 28 OctAlesund, called a second visit on this sailing
Thu 29 OctBergen
Fri 30 OctStavanger
Mon 2 NovBristol, unchanged, for debarkation

The article says the five remaining original ports were Alta, Hammerfest, Harstad, Leknes, Narvik, and Bodo. That is six names, and it calls them five. It then says the five ports after Friday’s Alta call are the ones that changed. On that reading, the dropped calls are Hammerfest, Harstad, Leknes, Narvik, and Bodo. Alta stays. Use the replacement table for the days you still have. Do not add a sixth dropped port to make the sentence add up.

The article does not print shore hours for the new ports. It says the southern track makes a northern-lights view less likely. It also says the next Land of the Northern Lights cruise on this ship leaves on 8 March 2027. Both of those lines are the article’s. It calls Ambition a 1,200-guest ship. That count is not on the pilotage list.

What the line said, and what the pilot list shows

Cruise Hive quotes an Ambassador Facebook post. The line said it had been watching local forecasts and had been in contact with the port authorities for the rest of the voyage. It said storms Austen and Boelo were forecast to bring winds of up to 70 knots and swells of up to 7 metres, and that keeping the original itinerary would put guests, crew, and the ship at risk.

The article does not link that Facebook post. No Ambassador newsroom page for the change turned up in this check. The cruise page at the line’s 16 Oct 2026 cruise code redirected to a 2027 sailing when it was opened on 23 Oct, so this post does not treat the website as the original day-by-day list. The original names above are Cruise Hive’s.

The pilotage board is a port record for the Alesund area. It was read on 23 Oct 2026. It does not label a time zone. The rows for Ambition, listed at 48,123 gross tons, are:

OrderTime on the pageFromTo
373087926 Oct, 2:30 a.m.Breisundet pilot stationAndalsnes
373088127 Oct, 1:30 a.m.AndalsnesMolde
373111128 Oct, 1:30 a.m.MoldeAlesund
373111728 Oct, 5:30 p.m.AlesundBreisundet pilot station

Those clocks are pilot orders. A 2:30 a.m. boarding time for a pilot is not the time you walk ashore. The 5:30 p.m. row on 28 Oct is the ship leaving Alesund for the pilot station. It supports a call that day. It is not a published gangway window. The page does not name a storm, and it does not show Bergen on 29 Oct or Stavanger on 30 Oct. Those two ports stay on Cruise Hive’s list only. The board is one district. A missing row there is not proof the call was dropped.

The other Storm Austen notes already on this site are Southampton arrivals and a cancelled Spanish call, on other ships. Arvia, Virtuosa, and Preziosa reach Southampton on Thursday night is not this Norway cruise. Iona cancels Getxo is not this cruise either.

What this means if you are on Ambition

If you are onboard, keep Friday’s Alta call, and redo anything you booked in Hammerfest, Harstad, Leknes, Narvik, or Bodo. The days Cruise Hive prints instead are Andalsnes, Molde, Alesund, Bergen, and Stavanger, Monday 26 Oct through Friday 30 Oct. The pilot list agrees with the first three of those shipside movements. It does not set the hours you can get off, and it does not confirm Bergen or Stavanger. Use the ship’s daily program for the gangway.

The Facebook quotes do not print a fare refund or a credit. If you bought a tour in a dropped port through Ambassador, ask onboard what happens to the money. The article does not answer that.

Bristol is still the end of the cruise, on Monday 2 Nov, in the Cruise Hive report. This check did not find a new arrival time there.

The post, as quoted, says keeping the original itinerary would put guests, crew, and the ship at risk. The article does not link the Facebook post. No Ambassador newsroom page for the change turned up in this check. The pilotage list does not print a weather reason.
Does the ship still return to Bristol on 2 Nov, and is there a refund?
Cruise Hive says the return to Bristol on Monday 2 Nov for debarkation is unchanged. It does not print a fare refund, an onboard credit, or a tour-refund rule. It says the next Land of the Northern Lights cruise on Ambition leaves on 8 March 2027. That date is the article's. If you bought a tour in a dropped port through Ambassador, ask the ship. The Facebook quotes do not answer that.
