Norwegian Luna will not call Great Stirrup Cay on Friday 23 Oct 2026. Norwegian Cruise Line told Cruise Hive the ship is running at reduced speed because of a technical issue, and that Friday is an extra sea day.

The cruise is the 7-night sailing that left Miami on Saturday 17 Oct and is still due back on Saturday 24 Oct. Cruise Fever reported the same cancellation on 22 Oct. No Norwegian newsroom post for the change turned up in this check.

What Norwegian said

Cruise Hive prints two statements from a Norwegian spokesperson.

The first says the safety and security of guests and crew is a top priority, that the line recently learned of a technical issue that requires the ship to operate at a reduced speed, that this does not affect the safety of the vessel, and that the original itinerary had to be adjusted.

The second says the ship will no longer visit Great Stirrup Cay on 23 Oct 2026 and will instead spend an extra day at sea. It says impacted guests will be told of further updates. It does not print a fare refund. It does not print an onboard credit. It does not print a shore-excursion rule. It does not print a speed in knots, and it does not name the part that failed.

Cruise Fever prints the first of those statements and paraphrases the cancellation and the promise of further updates. It does not add a credit.

What guests are calling it

The spokesperson’s word is a technical issue and reduced speed. Guest posts on the same Cruise Hive page use other words. One, dated 22/10, says the stop was cancelled for engine issues and that the guest had seen no mention of a goodwill gesture or onboard credit. Another says the ship is running at half speed and will head back to Miami so the engine can be fixed.

Cruise Fever quotes a Reddit post that the captain announced propulsion issues. Both articles also describe a passenger photo that appears to show the starboard azipod at reduced output. That is a passenger photo, as those articles describe it. It is not a line diagram, and it is not in the spokesperson statements.

Cruise Fever adds a speed from CruiseMapper, about 15 to 18 knots, against a usual speed of about 22. Those numbers are that article’s. They are not in the statement Norwegian gave Cruise Hive. Use reduced speed until the line prints a number.

The rest of this cruise

Cruise Hive says three ports already happened: Puerto Plata on 19 Oct, St. Thomas on 20 Oct, and Tortola on 21 Oct. Great Stirrup Cay on 23 Oct was the last call. Cruise Fever says the captain’s announcement came on a scheduled sea day after Tortola, so Friday is an added sea day, not the first one of the week.

DayWhat the reports say
Sat 17 OctLeft Miami
19 OctPuerto Plata, already called, in Cruise Hive
20 OctSt. Thomas, already called, in Cruise Hive
21 OctTortola, already called, in Cruise Hive
Fri 23 OctGreat Stirrup Cay cancelled. Extra sea day
Sat 24 OctDue back in Miami. Not described as cancelled

Cruise Hive calls the ship 156,000 gross tons, Prima Plus class, 3,565 passengers, in service since March 2026, and a sister ship to Norwegian Aqua. Cruise Fever matches the March 2026 debut and the 3,565 figure. The tonnage and the sister-ship line are Cruise Hive’s.

The missed day is Norwegian’s private island. This post does not restate the waterpark inventory. The change that is confirmed is the missed call.

The sailing that leaves Miami on 24 Oct

Cruise Hive says it is unclear what repairs are needed, or how the voyage leaving Miami on 24 Oct could be affected. Cruise Fever says there is no word yet on that sailing. Do not treat Saturday’s departure as cancelled off these two reports. If you are boarding it, use the message in your booking.

A different Norwegian weather cut, on another ship, is already on this site: Norwegian Bliss skips Acapulco for a sea day. That is the 13 Oct Los Angeles cruise. It is not this Miami week.

What this means if you are on Norwegian Luna

If you are onboard, Friday is a sea day. Do not plan a tender or a pier time at Great Stirrup Cay. The statements Cruise Hive prints do not name a fare refund or a flat credit. A guest post on that page says that guest had not seen one. Cruise Fever says past island cuts have often refunded excursions booked through the line. That is a comparison, not a line on your account. Check the folio, and ask the shore desk about any Great Stirrup Cay tour you bought through Norwegian.

If you board on Saturday 24 Oct, this check did not find a cancelled departure. It also did not find a promise that the speed issue is finished. Read the line’s message before you leave for the port.

  1. TIER 2Cruise Hive, Emrys Thakkar, 22 Oct 2026: Norwegian confirmed Norwegian Luna is operating at reduced speed because of a technical issue on the sailing that left Miami on 17 Oct 2026. Great Stirrup Cay, the line's private island in the Bahamas, is cancelled, and the day is a sea day instead. A spokesperson told Cruise Hive: the safety and security of guests and crew is a top priority; the line recently learned of a technical issue that requires the ship to operate at a reduced speed; this does not impact the safety of the vessel; the original itinerary had to be adjusted. A second statement says the line tries to maintain ports as scheduled, modifications are sometimes made, the ship will no longer visit Great Stirrup Cay on 23 Oct 2026 and will instead spend an extra day at sea, and impacted guests will be advised of further updates. The article says the ship has already called Puerto Plata on 19 Oct, St. Thomas on 20 Oct, and Tortola on 21 Oct, and that Great Stirrup Cay on 23 Oct was the final port. It says repairs and the effect on the next voyage, leaving Miami on 24 Oct, are unclear. It calls the ship a 156,000-gross-ton Prima Plus ship, 3,565 passengers, sister to Norwegian Aqua, in service since March 2026. It quotes two Facebook posts from guests onboard, one dated 22/10 saying the stop was cancelled for engine issues, that the cruise was given another sea day, and that the guest had seen no mention of a goodwill gesture or onboard credit, and another saying the ship has engine issues, is running at half speed, that Great Stirrup Cay tomorrow is canceled, and that the ship will head back to Miami so they can fix the engine. 2. TIER 2Cruise Fever, J. Souza, 22 Oct 2026, updated after first publication: passengers were told the Great Stirrup Cay stop was canceled because of technical issues. The article says the captain announced it on a scheduled sea day after Tortola, that Friday is an extra unscheduled sea day on the way back to Miami, and that the cruise is a 7-night Eastern Caribbean roundtrip that left Miami on 17 Oct and is scheduled back at PortMiami on 24 Oct. It says the ship entered service in March 2026 and lists 3,565 passengers. It prints the same spokesperson sentence Cruise Hive prints, on safety, a technical issue, reduced speed, and no impact on the safety of the vessel, and says the line went on to say the ship would not call Great Stirrup Cay and that guests would be told of further updates. It quotes a Facebook post about engine issues and half speed, and a Reddit post that the captain announced propulsion issues and that the ship will not make Great Stirrup Cay. It says a Reddit photo appears to show the starboard azipod at reduced output, and that CruiseMapper showed the ship at about 15 to 18 knots against a usual speed of about 22 knots and a maximum of 25. It says that in similar past situations guests have typically received refunds for Great Stirrup Cay shore excursions booked through the line. It says there is no word yet on whether the sailing leaving Miami on 24 Oct will be affected. It does not print a fare refund or an onboard credit for this cruise.
Cruise Fever, checked 22 Oct 2026 · Read 23 Oct 2026. Agrees on the cancellation, the Miami dates, the technical-issue statement, and the lack of a published credit. The knot figures are this article's reading of CruiseMapper. They are not in the spokesperson statement. The typical excursion-refund sentence is this article's comparison with past cases. It is not a rule printed for this sailing. The propulsion wording is the headline and the Reddit post, not the spokesperson sentence this article also prints.
