The short answerRoyal Caribbean Blog reports Michael Bayley, aboard Icon of the Seas on the President's Cruise, left a Labadee return date open until the line is confident it is safe. The blog says visits stay suspended through June 2027, extending an April 2025 skip. His words are verbatim from that one outlet. The Q&A session is not named.

If you sail the Western Caribbean, Labadee is the private stop that is off the calendar through June 2027.

That window comes from one report. Royal Caribbean Blog, updated Oct. 5, 2026, says Royal Caribbean suspended Labadee visits through June 2027. Elizabeth Wright’s story says the suspension extends a skip that began in April 2025. The same story is the only place we have Michael Bayley’s words on a return.

He was aboard Icon of the Seas for the President’s Cruise. The blog says a Q&A on the ship raised Labadee’s future. It does not name the session. An August Royal Caribbean Blog guide describes Common Ground as his open Q&A on this cruise. That makes Common Ground a likely room. The Oct. 5 story does not say so. The session name stays unconfirmed.

What he said, as the blog printed it

These lines are verbatim as Royal Caribbean Blog printed them. The ellipses belong to the blog. We do not have passenger audio. We do not have a Royal Caribbean press release. No second outlet has these words.

He gets asked that question a lot, “and it’s a bit depressing.”

“We’ve been in Labadee for 30 years… We’ve been through periods before where we’ve had to leave Labadee… until things sort themselves out. This time, it’s just been a lot longer, and it’s been a lot more violent and a lot more dangerous.”

The blog then prints, “We’re just waiting to see if that is going to sort itself out,” and attributes it with “he explained.”

“It’s a tragedy, really, in many ways. You know, it just keeps on happening, so until we’re confident that everything’s safe, then we can’t go back there.”

The blog then paraphrases him. It says the pause is even more upsetting because local residents depend on ship visits for their livelihoods, and that the company has kept paying employees during the suspension. That wording is the blog’s paraphrase.

“We built the school in Labadee. We put the water system into Labadee. Over the years, we’ve done a lot for the community, and we are continuing to pay at a reduced rate… as we go through this situation.”

“I think we’re all hopeful that at some point, these things always come to an end… so we’re just waiting for that time. Hopefully it’ll be soon.”

What that means for your booking

The blog says Royal Caribbean is still watching conditions. It prints no resume date. On the last update the blog cites, no ship calls at Labadee until at least July 2027.

If a Western Caribbean sailing in your account still lists Labadee before then, open the booking and read the ports. This story does not rewrite one named cruise. It gives you the CEO’s line, through one blog, on a stop already pulled through June 2027.

What the blog cites about Haiti

Royal Caribbean Blog points at other outlets for the wider crisis. We did not re-check those offices.

Citing the Organization for World Peace on International Organization for Migration data, the blog says about 12 percent of the population, roughly 1.5 million people, are displaced. It cites Human Rights Watch calling the country neck-deep in its most severe crisis in decades. It also says the U.S. State Department lists Haiti at Level 4, “Do Not Travel,” and that an FAA notice bars U.S. airline flights to Port-au-Prince. The article also cites an Associated Press report on kidnappings. The Labadee decision in Bayley’s printed remarks is safety, and he gave no date.

What we know / what we don’t

We know, from Royal Caribbean Blog alone:

  • Bayley took a Labadee question during a Q&A on Icon of the Seas, on the President’s Cruise.
  • That article does not name the session.
  • Visits are suspended through June 2027. The skip dates to April 2025.
  • The blog says no call is set before July 2027.
  • The quoted lines above are his words as the blog printed them, ellipses included.
  • The school, the water system, and pay at a reduced rate are inside that printed quote.

We don’t know yet:

  • The session name. Common Ground is a fair guess from the August guide. The Oct. 5 story does not say it.
  • A passenger recording of this answer.
  • A Royal Caribbean press release on these remarks.
  • A return date.
  • Any second outlet with the same wording.

If Labadee was the port you booked the week for, check the sailing before you hold a tour. Until Royal publishes a return, the blog’s calendar runs through June 2027.
