Icon of the Seas is not leaving Miami on time this Saturday. Cruise Hive, dated 23 Sep 2026, quoted a Royal Caribbean guest email for the seven-night Western Caribbean cruise that boards 26 Sep 2026. Guests still embark Saturday. The ship stays overnight for required maintenance and now sails at 4pm on Sunday 27 Sep 2026. No Royal Caribbean newsroom release was located. The load-bearing facts below come from that Tier 2 write-up of the line email.

Costa Maya is gone. If you prepaid a Royal Caribbean Costa Maya tour, treat it as cancelled and refunded.

What changed

Board on Saturday 26 Sep 2026 as planned. US Customs and Border Protection still requires embarkation that day, per the guest email Cruise Hive quoted.

After boarding, you can go ashore in Miami. The gangway closes at 8pm Saturday. It reopens Sunday morning. Exact reopen time was not published in the Cruise Hive report. All aboard is 2:30pm Sunday. Departure is 4pm Sunday 27 Sep 2026.

While the ship is still in port, bars, lounges, entertainment, dining, and the spa run. Casino Royale and the shops stay closed until Icon of the Seas is underway.

Original plan had a sea day on Sunday 27 Sep, then Costa Maya Monday 28 Sep from 8am to 5pm, Roatan Tuesday 29 Sep from 7am to 4pm, Cozumel Wednesday 30 Sep from 8am to 6pm, Perfect Day CocoCay Friday 2 Oct from 7am to 5pm, and Miami Saturday 3 Oct.

New plan: Monday 28 Sep is now a sea day. Costa Maya is cancelled. Roatan, Cozumel, and CocoCay stay on those clocks in the Cruise Hive report.

Compensation and tours

Royal Caribbean is posting refundable onboard credit as a gesture of goodwill for the late sailaway and lost port:

  • $300 per stateroom for inside and oceanview
  • $350 per stateroom for balconies
  • $800 per stateroom for suites
  • plus $50 for each third or fourth guest in the same cabin, any category

Those amounts are per stateroom, not per person, except for the third/fourth add-on. Shore tours booked through Royal Caribbean for Costa Maya are cancelled automatically and refunded to the original form of payment, per Cruise Hive.

Royal Caribbean did not spell out what the required maintenance is. Cruise Hive reported no announced impact on later Icon sailings.

What you should do

If you are on the 26 Sep 2026 Miami departure, keep your Saturday boarding window. Plan an extra Miami night ashore only if you want it and can make the Sunday 2:30pm all-aboard. Drop independent Costa Maya plans. Confirm Roatan and Cozumel times in the Royal Caribbean app. Check that the goodwill credit posted to your SeaPass. Keep tour refund receipts. Facts above follow Cruise Hive on 23 Sep 2026 quoting Royal Caribbean’s guest email.
