Hero of the Seas Just Got Two Head Starts

Some news lands in your inbox. Some news lands in a ballroom full of Pinnacles before anyone else can book a balcony.
This morning on Icon of the Seas, at the Top Tier event on the President’s Cruise, Royal Caribbean told its most loyal guests that Hero of the Seas is coming sooner than planned. Two sailings ahead of the original Aug. 11, 2027 debut. Booking opens Wednesday.
And yes, the email to already-booked inaugural guests says the same thing.
The dates (these are solid)
According to an email Royal Caribbean Blog published this morning, passengers booked on Hero’s inaugural got the update first:
- Aug. 1, 2027: 7-night Perfect Day CocoCay & Western Caribbean
- Aug. 8, 2027: 3-night Perfect Day CocoCay Getaway
- Aug. 11, 2027: still the inaugural sailing (unchanged if you stay put)
Royal Caribbean’s line in the email: construction is moving faster than expected, and they “simply can’t wait to welcome guests onboard in Miami.” Guests already on the Aug. 11 sailing can switch, add on, or stay. Change fees are waived through Oct. 14 for anyone moving earlier, and suites are held until that same date before they go wide.
Staterooms open at prevailing rates Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 7. Call center numbers are in the email if you want a human on the line.
This is the third Icon Class ship in a row to get an early launch bump. Star and Legend did the same dance.
Where President’s Cruise guests come in
Onboard creators filmed the Top Tier reveal. Countryfied Diva shared a Crown & Anchor Facebook post announcing the early sailings. Cruising Aimee captioned her clip “Breaking news heard only on the President’s cruise!!!”
The announcer was a Miami staff member, not CEO Michael Bayley. A speech-to-text pass of one clip has them saying they wanted guests “to be the first to know.” Treat that wording as approximate until we have a clean recording.
Same event, different slide: Countryfied Diva also caught a board titled “THE BIGGEST FAMILY AT SEA” with Crown & Anchor counts for this sailing — Gold 1,229, Platinum 451, Emerald 230, Diamond 496, Diamond Plus 739, Pinnacle Club 422. One source, but the numbers are right there on the slide.
So if you’re counting: hundreds of Diamond Plus and Pinnacle guests got a fleet scoop before the rest of us could refresh the booking page.
One thing to fix before you air this
The Crown & Anchor Facebook post (as seen in passenger screenshots) says these sailings leave from Port Everglades. The guest email and the onboard announcer both say Miami.
Until Royal Caribbean cleans that up, put a pin in the homeport. The sailing dates and the early debut are multi-source. The pier is not.
Why this matters
Inaugural seasons sell on FOMO. Two extra sailings mean two more chances to be early on a ship Royal Caribbean is still calling its next “Iconic Family Vacation” — treehouse suite, Hideaway redesign, New Orleans supper club, SpongeBob musical, new Category 6 slides, the works.
Bayley’s own quote in the broader Hero rollout (not from this morning’s Top Tier mic): Icon Class set a new bar for family vacations, and Hero “takes that vision even further.”
For No Fluff readers: the scoop is real. The calendar moved. Wednesday afternoon is when the inventory opens. Just double-check Miami vs. Port Everglades before you brag about which pier you’re sailing from.
What we know / what we don’t
We know:
- Two Hero sailings added: Aug. 1 (7-night) and Aug. 8 (3-night CocoCay)
- Original Aug. 11 inaugural stays
- Booked inaugural guests got an official email; Royal Caribbean Blog published it
- Top Tier guests on the 2026 President’s Cruise heard it onboard the same day
- Change fees waived to Oct. 14 for moves to earlier sailings; suites held until then
We don’t know yet:
- Whether the homeport is Miami or Port Everglades (sources disagree)
- Exact public booking open time beyond “afternoon” Wed Oct. 7
- Whether Bayley himself addressed Hero from the Top Tier stage

In a later section on the ship's features, the same article quotes Michael Bayley, from the broader Hero rollout, that Icon Class set a new standard for family vacations and Hero takes that vision even further. That quote is not presented as a line from the Top Tier microphone.
