Oasis of the Seas swaps the Bahamas for a full day in Halifax

You are not going to the Bahamas. Halifax is the port, and the ship now stays until 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Cruise Industry News on 20 Oct 2026 prints the statement Royal Caribbean sent before the ship left. Cruise Hive, Calvin Musquez, 18 Oct, prints the same notice and the first Halifax window. Cruise Hive, Melissa Mayntz, 19 Oct, prints the later letter that lengthens the call. No Royal Caribbean newsroom post is linked from these articles. A request for the 18 Oct package page on royalcaribbean.com on 20 Oct opened a search page, not the sailing. The clocks and the money below come from the statements these outlets print.
Where the ship goes
This is the 7-night cruise that left Cape Liberty, in Bayonne, New Jersey, on Sunday 18 Oct 2026. Cruise Hive says guests got the first notice late on Saturday 17 Oct. Cruise Industry News says the statement went out before departure.
The quoted line in both the 18 Oct Cruise Hive report and Cruise Industry News:
The weather’s impact makes it hard to provide you with a safe and comfortable journey to Florida and the Bahamas.
Cruise Industry News also quotes the decision. After looking at the options, the line decided to sail to Halifax, Nova Scotia, for an overnight stay. The original calls were Port Canaveral, Perfect Day at CocoCay, and Nassau.
The first replacement window was short. Both Cruise Hive reports put the ship alongside from 6 p.m. on Tuesday 20 Oct until 8 a.m. on Wednesday 21 Oct. The 19 Oct article calls that 14 hours.
The later letter, as Melissa Mayntz prints it, says this:
By continuing to work through our amended schedule, we’ve been able to secure additional flexibility for guests during our overnight stay. We will now be able to extend our stay until 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 21, offering a full day to explore Halifax.
The Tuesday 6 p.m. arrival does not move. Wednesday’s departure moves from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cruise Hive calls that 10 more hours. The captain announced it on board. The app shows the new time. You can book a tour in the app, or at the Shore Excursions Desk on the starboard side midship, across from the Schooner Bar. That desk line is the 19 Oct article.
The rest of the week is sea days. You return to Cape Liberty on Sunday 25 Oct. The 19 Oct article puts that return at about 6 a.m. The 18 Oct article says the return date stayed and does not print the hour. Use 6 a.m. as the later report.
Cruise Hive’s passenger figure is 5,602. Cruise Industry News does not print a count.
The 19 Oct article describes the weather as high winds and strong swells off the eastern seaboard. Those words are the article’s. They are not in the quotation. The letter’s own line is the one about inclement weather off the East Coast.
What the letter pays
Use the 18 Oct Cruise Hive report and Cruise Industry News for who gets which amount. Both say the category credit is for the first and second guests. The 19 Oct article says the offer did not change, and it prints the same dollars per guest.
| Who | Onboard credit |
|---|---|
| First or second guest, inside or oceanview (outside) | $200 per person |
| First or second guest, balcony | $300 per person |
| First or second guest, suite | $600 per person |
| Each guest after the first two | $100 per person |
The 18 Oct report also puts neighborhood balcony at the $300 rate. Cruise Industry News and the 19 Oct article say balcony and do not print the neighborhood label. If your documents say neighborhood balcony, use $300 unless a newer note says otherwise.
Cruise Industry News and the 18 Oct report call this credit refundable. The 19 Oct article does not repeat that word. It says the compensation is the same. The reports do not print the steps for sending the category credit back to a card.
A third person does not also collect the category amount. The first two people get $200, $300, or $600 each. Each person after that gets $100.
Each paid guest also gets a 50 percent future cruise credit toward another Royal Caribbean sailing. Cruise Hive says the credit is issued by 1 Nov 2026, and the sailing has to be booked by 18 Oct 2027. Cruise Industry News says the line offered a 50 percent future cruise credit and does not print those dates. The dates in this post are Cruise Hive’s.
Prepaid shore excursions for the cancelled ports refund as onboard credit. Cruise Industry News says unused amounts go back to the credit card on the onboard account. The 18 Oct Cruise Hive report says any unused balance goes back to that card after the cruise. That sentence sits with the tours. A tour you bought from another company is outside it. Call that operator.
Documents for Canada
Cruise Industry News says the statement told you this sailing needs different documents, and that some nationalities may need a visa to visit Canada.
The 18 Oct Cruise Hive report says the line warned that some people may be unable to sail because of Canadian visa rules. The same article says Canada requires a visa for citizens of more than 100 countries, and it names China, El Salvador, and Mexico. Those country names are in the article. They are not inside a quotation from the letter. If you are already on the ship, the planning line from Cruise Industry News is the visit: some nationalities may need a visa to go ashore.
The same Cruise Hive article says the line recommends a passport book or card that is valid for at least six months after the voyage. It also says eligible guests may board with a U.S. birth certificate and a government ID. Read your own documents against that advice before you count on a walk into Halifax.
Pack a layer. The 18 Oct article says the line told people to bring warmer clothes. It compares a mid-50s Fahrenheit visit in Halifax with high-70s and low-80s forecasts for Port Canaveral and Nassau. Those temperatures are the article’s comparison. This post did not open a forecast.
A different Oasis cruise
In late September, a nor’easter made Oasis of the Seas late back to Cape Liberty, and the next sailing dropped Port Canaveral. That booking is already on this site. Cruise Hive mentions it as background. The 18 Oct cruise is a different week. This one leaves the Bahamas and Florida behind and goes to Halifax.
What this means for you
If you are on this ship, Tuesday 20 Oct at 6 p.m. through Wednesday 21 Oct at 6 p.m. is the call. Book the tour in the app or at the desk across from the Schooner Bar. Match the credit to the cabin for the first two people, then $100 for each person after that. Watch the onboard account for a Royal Caribbean tour from the cancelled ports. Check whether your documents let you ashore in Canada. The future cruise credit, in the Cruise Hive reports, is issued by 1 Nov 2026 and has to be booked by 18 Oct 2027. You are due back at Cape Liberty on Sunday 25 Oct, about 6 a.m. in the later report. Facts above follow Cruise Industry News on 20 Oct 2026, and Cruise Hive on 18 Oct and 19 Oct 2026.
