Voyager of the Seas drops Puerto Vallarta and calls Cabo a second time

Voyager of the Seas will not call Puerto Vallarta on Tuesday 13 Oct. Cruise Hive, Melissa Mayntz, 13 Oct 2026, quotes a Royal Caribbean letter to people on the ship. The Hurricane Simon forecast deteriorated. The ship cannot safely make that call. Tuesday 13 Oct is a second day in Cabo San Lucas, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Nautical Flock and The Travel reported the same swap on 13 Oct. No Royal Caribbean PDF of the letter was found. The clocks and the money below come from those reports of the letter.
What changed on this sailing?
This is an 8-night Mexican Riviera cruise. It left Los Angeles on Thursday 8 Oct 2026. It is still due back on Friday 16 Oct. Cruise Hive calls this the second change.
Before embarkation, Royal Caribbean dropped Catalina Island and Mazatlan. Cruise Hive ties that cut to Hurricane Rachel, and to Simon when it was still a tropical storm. Cabo moved off Sunday. The first Cabo call was Saturday 10 Oct, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesday was Puerto Vallarta. That day is now Cabo again, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. The cruise visits one destination, twice.
The Travel quotes a longer stretch of the letter:
As shared by our Captain, together with our meteorology team, we’ve continued to closely monitor the path of Hurricane Simon. Unfortunately, the forecast has deteriorated, and we’re unable to safely call on Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. To ensure the comfort and safety of our guests and crew, and after exploring all options, we’ll now head back to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Tuesday for an additional full day visit.
Cruise Hive prints the meteorology sentence and the apology. It does not print the “As shared by our Captain” opening. Both outlets quote the apology. Royal Caribbean said it is very sorry for another last-minute change, and for the overall impact the weather has had on the cruise. Safety remains the top priority.
The Travel, citing Cruise Mapper, prints the original skeleton as Los Angeles on 8 Oct, Santa Catalina on 9 Oct, Cabo on 11 Oct, Mazatlan on 12 Oct, Puerto Vallarta on 13 Oct, and Los Angeles on 16 Oct. Sunday 11 Oct is the Cabo day that moved to Saturday.
Vallarta Daily, Ian Hayden Parker, 12 Oct 2026, says Puerto Vallarta’s port authority confirmed the cancelled Tuesday visit. Nautical Flock says the same. Vallarta Daily does not print the Cabo hours or the credit.
What are they offering?
Cruise Hive calls this credit non-refundable, in US dollars, per stateroom. Nautical Flock and The Travel print the same amounts.
| Stateroom | Onboard credit |
|---|---|
| Inside or oceanview | $50 |
| Balcony | $100 |
| Suite | $250 |
| Each 3rd or 4th guest in that room | $25 more |
The Travel quotes the shore-excursion line. In addition to the credit, Royal Caribbean is giving 20 percent off Royal Caribbean shore excursions in Cabo San Lucas, so you can use the second day ashore.
Cruise Hive says you book those in the Royal Caribbean app, or at the Shore Excursions Desk on Deck 5. That desk is on the starboard side, at the aft end of the Royal Promenade, next to Guest Services. Nautical Flock repeats the same desk.
A Saturday tour does not become a Tuesday tour. If you want a second Cabo excursion, book it.
The published call is 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. The all-aboard time in the app is the clock that gets you back on the ship. Nautical Flock says to watch that time.
What happens to a Puerto Vallarta tour?
The Travel quotes the letter on tours Royal Caribbean sold:
Any pre-paid Royal Caribbean International shore excursions booked for Puerto Vallarta will be canceled and refunded as an Onboard Credit to your SeaPass account.
The same quotation says those credits can be used anywhere onboard. Any remaining refundable amount at the end of the sailing goes back to the card on file, in up to 14 business days from final disembarkation.
Cruise Hive says the Puerto Vallarta tours are cancelled automatically and refunded to the onboard account, and that remaining refundable amounts go back to the card on file. It does not print the SeaPass name or the 14-business-day clock. Those two details are in The Travel’s quotation.
That automatic refund is for tours booked with Royal Caribbean. A guide, driver, or transfer you bought from someone else needs a call to that company. Nautical Flock says the same limit.
Where is the storm?
National Hurricane Center Advisory 22, 2:00 p.m. MST on Monday 12 Oct 2026, put Hurricane Simon at 100 mph. The center was about 75 miles west of Cabo Corrientes and about 210 miles south of Mazatlan, moving west-northwest at 3 mph.
A hurricane warning covered Las Islas Marias. A hurricane watch ran from Cabo Corrientes to Bahia Tempehuaya. This advisory discontinued a tropical storm warning from Playa Perula to Cabo Corrientes. On that track, Simon was expected near Las Islas Marias Monday night into Tuesday, then toward the west-central Mexico coast on Wednesday into Thursday.
The advisory does not name the ship, and it does not name Puerto Vallarta. Cruise Hive’s storm box says a hurricane watch includes Puerto Vallarta, and it puts the center about 105 miles west-southwest of that city. Use Advisory 22 for the position and the watch bounds.
Cruise Hive says a second Cabo call keeps the ship away from the forecast track on the run back to Los Angeles. No outlet read for this post moved the Friday 16 Oct return.
What this means for you
If you are on this sailing, Tuesday 13 Oct is Cabo San Lucas, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Leave Puerto Vallarta plans off the cruise. Look for the 20 percent Cabo price if you want another tour, and book it in the app or at the Deck 5 desk. Watch SeaPass for the stateroom credit and for any Puerto Vallarta tour Royal Caribbean sold you. Call a private Puerto Vallarta vendor yourself. You are still due in Los Angeles on Friday 16 Oct. Facts above follow Cruise Hive, The Travel, and Nautical Flock on 13 Oct 2026, Vallarta Daily on 12 Oct, and National Hurricane Center Advisory 22 at 2:00 p.m. MST on 12 Oct.
