Carnival Panorama drops Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán for Simon

Carnival Panorama will not call Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlán on the cruise that left Long Beach on Saturday 10 Oct 2026. The reason in the guest letter is Hurricane Simon.
Cruise Hive, Melissa Mayntz, 14 Oct 2026, quotes the letter sent on Tuesday 13 Oct. Cruise Industry News, the same day, names the captain, Salvatore Mangraviti. CruiseNews.io, Jed Stafford, 15 Oct, tracks that account. No Carnival newsroom post for this sailing was found. No PDF of the letter was found. The clocks below are those reports of the letter.
What came off this sailing?
This is an eight-night Mexican Riviera roundtrip. It left Long Beach on Saturday 10 Oct. None of the three reports prints the return date. Use the return in your app.
Cruise Hive prints one original order: Puerto Vallarta on Tuesday 13 Oct, Mazatlán on Wednesday 14 Oct, La Paz on Thursday 15 Oct, and Cabo San Lucas on Friday 16 Oct. The same article also says the ship was supposed to call Cabo first, on Monday 12 Oct. Those two Cabo dates are both in that article. The letter, quoted by Cruise Hive and by Cruise Industry News, treats Monday 12 Oct as the Cabo day the ship missed.
The letter then cancels the two mainland calls. Cruise Hive quotes it:
Regrettably, due to Hurricane Simon’s location, we will not be able to visit Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlan. Instead, we have arranged a visit to Ensenada on Saturday, October 17, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Cruise Industry News and CruiseNews.io print the same cancellation and the same Ensenada window, 8am to 5pm on Saturday 17 Oct. Cruise Industry News also quotes the captain on safety. The line will keep watching the weather. A later note can still move Saturday.
What happened in Cabo?
The letter, as Cruise Hive and Cruise Industry News quote it, apologizes for missing Cabo on Monday 12 Oct. Weather made the water shuttles unsafe. Cruise Hive quotes the replacement plan: another Cabo call on Wednesday 14 Oct, 7am to 5pm, weather permitting. Cruise Industry News says the second attempt was Wednesday and does not print those hours.
Cruise Hive says Wednesday-morning AIS showed the ship at Cabo. Cruise Industry News says AIS showed Panorama anchored off the city, and reads that as a successful call. CruiseNews.io, on 15 Oct, says the same. If you are on the ship, the call in the app is the one that counts. The articles are the public record of that AIS check.
La Paz is less settled. Cruise Hive says the ship called La Paz on Tuesday, which in that 14 Oct article is 13 Oct. Its own original list had La Paz on Thursday 15 Oct. Cruise Industry News and CruiseNews.io do not mention a La Paz call. If Thursday is still on your personal plan, open the app before you keep it.
What about the tours?
Carnival tours you bought for Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlán are cancelled. Cruise Hive says the refund goes to your Sail & Sign account. Cruise Industry News and CruiseNews.io say the onboard account. Look for the credit on the folio. The reports do not print a dollar amount, because the refund is whatever you paid Carnival for those tours.
Cabo tours bought through Carnival move to the Wednesday call. Cruise Hive says they were shifted to that visit. Cruise Industry News and CruiseNews.io say the same adjustment. A Monday Cabo tour does not stay on Monday. Check the new meeting time.
That automatic refund is for excursions purchased through Carnival. The three reports do not put a tour you bought from another company inside it. Call that operator about Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, or a Cabo time that moved.
The quoted letters do not list a cruise-fare refund or a flat onboard credit for the lost ports. Budget the tour refund unless a newer Carnival note adds more.
Ensenada tours, per Cruise Hive, are open in the Carnival Hub app. On the ship, Carnival Adventures is forward on Deck 3, port side of the Panorama Atrium. Guest Services is on the starboard side, also forward on Deck 3. Book after the app shows Saturday 17 Oct from 8am to 5pm. The captain’s line, via Cruise Industry News, is that conditions are still being watched.
Where do Polo and Rachel fit?
Cruise Industry News says hurricanes have been changing Panorama’s West Coast cruises since late September. Polo came first. Rachel came next. CruiseNews.io says the same order.
Those two storms hit the previous Long Beach sailing, the one that left 26 Sep. Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán came off for Polo, and Ensenada went on for 28 Sep. La Paz and Cabo then came off for Rachel, with a second Ensenada call and $300 in Sail & Sign credit. That $300 figure is the Rachel sailing. It is not in the Simon letter these outlets quote. Do not copy it onto this cruise.
Voyager of the Seas lost Puerto Vallarta on a different Simon change, a Los Angeles sailing. Panorama’s refund is the Carnival tour credit above. Voyager’s credit table does not apply here.
Cruise Hive’s storm box, from a Wednesday-morning National Hurricane Center update, put Simon at 90 mph and said no coastal watch or warning was in effect at that update. That is the storm status in the 14 Oct article. It is not a forecast for Saturday in Ensenada.
What this means for you
If you are on the 10 Oct Panorama cruise, take Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán off the week. Confirm whether Wednesday’s Cabo call happened, and whether a Carnival Cabo tour moved with it. Saturday 17 Oct is Ensenada, 8am to 5pm, if your app matches the letter. Watch Sail & Sign for the Carnival tours from the two cancelled ports. Call any private tour company yourself. Leave the Rachel $300 credit on the September sailing. Facts above follow Cruise Hive and Cruise Industry News on 14 Oct 2026, and CruiseNews.io on 15 Oct.
