Carnival Panorama drops Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán for Polo

Carnival cut Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán from Carnival Panorama’s 26 Sep 2026 Long Beach cruise. Cruise Industry News and Cruise Hive, both dated 26 Sep 2026, quote a Carnival guest advisory that blames Hurricane Polo. Ensenada goes on the schedule. La Paz and Cabo San Lucas stay. Carnival tours for the dropped ports are cancelled and refunded. No Carnival newsroom release was located. The port swap is in both Tier 2 reports. The hour-by-hour clocks are Cruise Hive’s reading of the 25 Sep advisory.
If you prepaid a Carnival tour in Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlán, treat it as cancelled and refunded.
What came off the schedule
Panorama sailed from Long Beach on Saturday 26 Sep 2026 on an eight-night Mexican Riviera cruise. Cruise Industry News puts the ship at 4,000 passengers.
Carnival’s statement says the Fleet Operations Center is watching Hurricane Polo in the Eastern Pacific. The forecast was enough to change part of the route and keep the ship farther from the storm. Carnival’s words, via Cruise Industry News: planned visits to Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán will not be kept.
Cruise Hive dates those lost calls. Puerto Vallarta was Tuesday 29 Sep. Mazatlán was Wednesday 30 Sep.
What went on instead
Carnival is adding Ensenada, then heading south to La Paz and Cabo San Lucas on the original plan. That substitution is in both outlets.
Cruise Hive is the only one of the two that publishes the clocks. Use them as the working plan, then match them to the email in your account:
- Sunday 27 Sep: sea day
- Monday 28 Sep: Ensenada, 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Then two sea days
- Thursday 1 Oct: La Paz, original call kept
- Friday 2 Oct: Cabo San Lucas, original call kept
- Sunday 4 Oct: Long Beach, still expected on the original return day
Ensenada shore excursions sold by Carnival are open to book, per Cruise Hive. Book after you see the call in the app, because Carnival already reserved the right to edit again.
Refunds
Both outlets say excursions you bought through Carnival for the cancelled ports are cancelled and refunded. Cruise Industry News says fully refunded. Cruise Hive says the credit lands on the onboard account.
Tours you bought outside Carnival are absent from both write-ups. Call that operator yourself.
The quoted statements do not list a cruise-fare refund or an extra onboard credit for the port cuts. Budget only the tour refund unless a newer Carnival email adds more.
Carnival also said forecasts can change and that further edits may follow. The apology in the Cruise Industry News quote is blunt: the line is sorry the weather is not cooperating, and it would rather keep the ship clear of the storm.
Storm context, as Cruise Hive cited it
Cruise Hive points at National Hurricane Center Advisory 22, issued at 8:00pm, and describes Polo as a Category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 175 mph. In that citation the center is 380 miles south of Cabo San Lucas, moving west-northwest at 10 mph. Those figures are Cruise Hive’s reading of the advisory on 26 Sep 2026. They explain the reroute. They are not a live forecast for the rest of your week. If Carnival sends a new port list, the new list wins.
Navigator of the Seas already has a separate Polo change on a Los Angeles sailing. Do not copy Panorama’s Ensenada add onto that ship, or Navigator’s Cabo cut onto this one.
What you should do
If you are on the 26 Sep 2026 Long Beach Panorama cruise, open the Carnival app and the 25 Sep advisory. Clear Tuesday and Wednesday plans that needed Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlán. If your email matches Cruise Hive, Ensenada is Monday 28 Sep from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with La Paz on 1 Oct and Cabo on 2 Oct still in place, and Long Beach on 4 Oct. Confirm cancelled Carnival tours hit the onboard account. Leave slack in any privately booked Cabo or La Paz plan, because Carnival said it may change the route again. Facts above follow Cruise Industry News and Cruise Hive, both dated 26 Sep 2026.
