Valiant Lady boards New York late and cuts Bermuda to one day

Virgin Voyages pushed Valiant Lady into New York late and shortened the Bermuda overnight that follows. The line’s own travel advisory, updated 27 Sep 2026, is the primary source. VV Insider published a write-up on 26 Sep 2026. Where a clock differs, use the Virgin page.
Why New York ran late
Virgin says the nor’easter forced the Port of New York to close on 26 Sep. The port was expected to reopen Sunday morning. Ships ahead of Valiant Lady had to leave before she could dock. The line also adjusted course to stay out of the worst weather.
Valiant Lady was approved to dock around 4pm on Sunday 27 Sep. Customs and immigration usually take 30 to 60 minutes after that. The earliest you can walk off is around 5pm.
VV Insider names the cruise you are leaving as the 19 Sep 2026 New England and Canada voyage. The Virgin advisory calls it the current voyage and does not print that date.
If you are leaving this cruise
Place luggage outside the cabin by 10am Sunday. Virgin wants that drop on Sunday morning. Pick a disembarkation slot in the Virgin Voyages app by 8pm Saturday. Crew will deliver a meeting-location letter Sunday morning.
Airport transfers booked in the app still run, with times shifting on their own. Other New York Shore Things cancel and refund to the Sailor folio. Virgin says it will not pay for weather-related onward travel. The advisory points you at an evening flight after 8pm if you can move a ticket.
The Galley and The Pizza Place stay open through the day. The Wake and Ariya run brunch 8am to 1pm.
If you are joining the Bermuda cruise
Boarding is split. Sunday 27 Sep runs 8pm to midnight. Monday 28 Sep adds 7am to 10am. Sailaway is around noon Monday. Once you are onboard, you stay until the ship sails.
Virgin says the new arrival slots are six hours and 30 minutes later than the originals. The advisory prints a row for each window. Stick to your assigned slot. An early arrival slows the turnaround. If your original slot is missing from the table, check the app.
VV Insider prints its own slot table. Those rows do not match Virgin’s table line for line. Use the Virgin advisory, then the app, for the window with your name on it.
Sunday dinner reservations are cancelled. A limited set of restaurants plus The Galley run first-come, first-served. The Galley stays open 8pm to 1am with a bigger menu.
Bermuda overnight becomes a day call
The Monday noon departure is why Bermuda shrinks. Virgin keeps the island as a single day: arrive 9am, depart 4pm. The advisory does not print the calendar date. VV Insider’s revised schedule puts that call on Wednesday 30 Sep and calls it about seven hours ashore. That date rests on VV Insider alone.
Shore Things booked for the original first Bermuda day cancel on their own and post as refundable Sailor Loot after embarkation. Tours for the original second Bermuda day stay on, per Virgin.
Compensation for joining sailors
Every person on the Bermuda voyage gets $200 in non-refundable Sailor Loot and a $200 Future Voyage Credit toward a later Virgin sailing. That is per person.
If weather blocks your trip into New York, Virgin says Sailor Services can move you to a future voyage credit for the value of the current voyage. The advisory lists 954-488-2955.
The Sailor Loot and future voyage credit are for the Bermuda voyage. If you are finishing the current cruise, Virgin says there is no payout for the weather delay.
What you should do
If you leave Valiant Lady on 27 Sep, plan on a mid-afternoon dock and a walk-off around 5pm. If you join the Bermuda cruise, use the Sunday evening or Monday morning board window, and plan on one Bermuda day from 9am to 4pm. Confirm the $200 Sailor Loot and the $200 Future Voyage Credit post to your account. Recheck Shore Things for the cancelled Bermuda day. Facts above follow Virgin Voyages’ advisory updated 27 Sep 2026. The 30 Sep date is VV Insider’s, dated 26 Sep 2026.
