MSC World Atlantic is in the water. MSC Cruises’ press release, dated 30 Sep 2026, says the ship touched water for the first time at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, this past week. Cruise Industry News, dated the same day, puts the float-out on 26 Sep 2026. The MSC release does not print that calendar day.
The ship stays at the yard. Interiors, public spaces, and the last technical work continue. Delivery is in 2027. The first Caribbean season is from November. The release says the itineraries are on sale.
You can hold a cabin. You cannot sail it this year.
Homeport and the first date
The 30 Sep release does not name the homeport. The sales releases from 10 Dec 2025 do. Both put the ship in Port Canaveral, Florida.
The international sales release says the debut is November 2027, with winter and summer itineraries on sale. It says the pattern is alternating 7-night and 14-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises. Ports named in that release include Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Nassau, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Grand Turk, and Puerto Plata. It does not print 13 Nov.
The US sales release the same day says Port Canaveral sailings start 13 Nov 2027, with year-round itineraries on sale. Its 13 Nov section prints alternating 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises. It does not mention a 14-night cruise. Eastern calls in that release are Grand Turk, Puerto Plata, Nassau, and Ocean Cay. Western calls are Costa Maya, Cozumel, Nassau, and Ocean Cay.
The newer company words put 14-night cruises back in the pattern. The 30 Sep 2026 float-out release says alternating 7-night and 14-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings from November 2027. Cruise Industry News repeats that 7-night and 14-night line and the Port Canaveral debut. If the booking page in front of you is 7 nights only, that matches the US sales release. If you need 14 nights, confirm the length on that sailing. The international release and the float-out release advertise it. The US release’s 13 Nov section does not.
Cruise Fever and Cruise Hive, both dated 30 Sep 2026, say the debut cruise is a seven-night on 13 Nov 2027 from Port Canaveral. The ports they name are Nassau, Ocean Cay, Cozumel, and Costa Maya. That is the western list from the US release. Cruise Hive adds that 7-night and 14-night cruises then run year-round from Port Canaveral through at least summer 2028. The US release says year-round and does not print a summer 2028 end. Use Cruise Hive for that end date only.
What size of ship you are booking
The 30 Sep release says World Atlantic will be MSC Cruises’ 25th ship and the fourth LNG ship in the World Class. Seven districts are in that release, and in both sales releases. The ship is still being finished. Delivery remains 2027.
The float-out release and both sales releases do not print a guest count or a gross tonnage. Cruise Industry News calls it a 5,400-passenger ship. Cruise Hive prints 6,758 guests and 215,863 gross tons. Those two figures do not match. Leave a capacity number off your notes until MSC prints one.
Public space disagrees by release. The international sales release says more than 38,000 square metres. The US release says more than 400,000 square feet. Venue counts disagree too. The international release says more than 40 bars, restaurants, and lounges. The US release says more than 30. Read the release that matches the site you book on.
Both sales releases agree on 144 Yacht Club suites. Both describe Viva La Musica, a Latin music lounge, and The Clubhouse, with a LEGO area, bumper cars, and roller skating. Cliffhanger is 50 metres in the international release and 160 feet in the US release.
Ocean Cay is on every company itinerary note used here. The US western list also has Costa Maya and Cozumel. The US eastern list has Grand Turk and Puerto Plata. Nassau is on both US lists.
What you should do
Book Port Canaveral only if the date on the screen matches the pattern you want. The 13 Nov 2027 start is in the US sales release, and Cruise Fever and Cruise Hive call that first cruise the western seven-night. The ship is still alongside in Saint-Nazaire. Treat the sales-release venues as the promise, and treat the live day list as the itinerary.
The photo is MSC Cruises’ float-out image from the 30 Sep 2026 press release. The milestone follows that release. The homeport and the 13 Nov date follow the 10 Dec 2025 sales releases. The 26 Sep date follows Cruise Industry News. The maiden port order follows Cruise Fever and Cruise Hive, both dated 30 Sep 2026.
