What the Coast Guard told CBS
The Coast Guard’s statement to CBS is dated Monday. It says Miami sector detained the ship for inspection on Sunday.
The teams “are verifying the cruise ship’s compliance with international standards and U.S. regulations.” The statement does not name a deficiency.
It also says the Coast Guard’s job is safe and secure commerce, and that the Captain of the Port’s priority is the safety of passengers, crew, the vessel, and the environment. No official’s name is printed.
What MSC told CBS
MSC’s statement to CBS says the departure “has been delayed while the U.S. Coast Guard conducts an inspection aboard the ship while it is docked in port.”
The company says it is cooperating. It says it cannot give further information while the inspection continues. It says it is keeping you informed about an anticipated departure, and it asks for patience.
That statement does not print a clock time. It does not print a cancelled port. It does not print a refund, a credit, or a compensation figure.
CBS says MSC describes a capacity of more than 3,200 passengers and over 1,000 crew. CBS says the number of people on this sailing is unclear. Use the capacity line as the size of the ship. Do not use it as a headcount for Sunday.
A passenger video, from one outlet
Cruise.blog, dated 2 Nov 2026, goes past the statements. Those extra lines rest on this one page. CBS does not print them.
The article calls the trip an 11-night Western Caribbean and Central America cruise that was due out of PortMiami on Sunday 1 Nov. CBS does not print 11 nights, and it does not name the region.
Cruise.blog says a video shared by passenger Maria Teresa Trascritti shows Captain Michele Tuvo. In that account, he ties the delay to the inspection, says he does not see a safety concern for you in the delay, and says the crew cannot make the Coast Guard move faster.
The same article says a later update from the captain put a decision at about 10 a.m. on Tuesday. If the ship could not sail then, he said the voyage would be cancelled, with a refund and additional compensation. The article does not print the refund amount. CBS does not print the deadline or the promise.
Cruise.blog also says MSC ran four shuttles to Bayside on Monday and postponed Gala Night. It says the ship was still in Miami at 9:00 p.m. EST on Monday. It then says a Tuesday 3 Nov call at Ocho Rios would be missed, and that the MSC for Me app listed Cartagena at 7:00 a.m. on 5 Nov. It points the original port list at CruiseMapper. This desk did not open that page, and it did not watch the video. Treat the port names as Cruise.blog’s, until MSC or the app in your name shows them.
What to do with a booking on this sailing
Read the message MSC sends you on the ship or in the app. The CBS statements still have no new sail time.
If you are using the video’s Tuesday deadline to change a flight or a hotel, read it as Cruise.blog’s account of a passenger video. MSC’s statement to CBS has no deadline and no refund.
