Royal Caribbean Group is in reported talks to buy into Sandals. No deal is signed. Your booked sailing does not change today.

Royal Caribbean Blog summarized the rumor on 22 Sep 2026 and pointed back to the Financial Times. CNBC and Cruise Industry News, also on 22 Sep 2026, filled in conflicting stake details. Every load-bearing claim here rests on Tier 2 reporting of unnamed sources. Treat it as unfinished business until Royal or Sandals issues a statement.

What the reports say

CNBC said Royal is near a roughly $3 billion deal for a 50% equity stake, valuing Sandals around $6 billion. A person familiar with the talks told CNBC the discussions are still open and may not close. CNBC also said Royal shares fell about 6% on the news, which the Financial Times reported first.

Cruise Industry News, restating the FT, described a majority or controlling stake valuing Sandals north of $6 billion, with Royal controlling about 20 Sandals properties and Stewart family members keeping equity.

Royal Caribbean Blog framed it as a buy of the all-inclusive brand and noted Sandals’ roughly 20 Caribbean resorts plus the Beaches family brand. That outlet also stressed there is no agreement yet and that neither company has commented.

Those stake shapes do not match each other. Until a filing or newsroom release lands, do not assume a full buyout, a 50/50 split, or a timeline.

What it would mean if it closes

Royal already sells private islands and beach clubs to its own guests. A Sandals and Beaches foothold would push the group deeper into land all-inclusives across the Caribbean. For you as a booked passenger, that is a future packaging question, not a present itinerary change.

Jason Liberty has said in past interviews that land resorts are the real competition for Royal’s experience business. Royal Caribbean Blog quoted that framing. It does not prove this deal will happen.

What does not change today

Do not rebook, cancel, or wait on a Sandals package because of these headlines. There is no confirmed price, closing date, or product integration. Stock moves are investor noise for this site.

What you should do

Watch for a Royal Caribbean Group or Sandals newsroom confirmation, or an SEC filing if a deal is large enough to require one. Until then, book cruises and resort stays on their own merits. Facts above follow Royal Caribbean Blog, CNBC, and Cruise Industry News on 22 Sep 2026. No Tier 1 company confirmation was located.
