Navigator of the Seas drops Ensenada and Cabo for Hurricane Polo

Navigator of the Seas is not doing the usual Mexican Riviera this weekend. Royal Caribbean Blog, dated 23 Sep 2026, and Cruise Mummy, dated 24 Sep 2026, both quote a Royal Caribbean guest notice for the Los Angeles sailing that leaves Friday 25 Sep 2026. Ensenada and Cabo San Lucas are gone. Mazatlán moves earlier. Puerto Vallarta is added. No Royal Caribbean newsroom release was located. The load-bearing itinerary facts below come from those Tier 2 write-ups of the line email. Storm facts come from the National Hurricane Center.
If you prepaid a Royal Caribbean Ensenada or Cabo tour, treat it as cancelled and refunded as onboard credit.
What changed
Cruise Mummy says guests got the letter on 23 Sep 2026 for the ~3,990-passenger ship’s 25 Sep departure from Los Angeles, returning 2 Oct.
Original plan in that report: Ensenada on Saturday 26 Sep, then Cabo San Lucas on Monday 28 Sep, with Mazatlán later in the week.
New plan from the guest email those outlets quoted:
- Saturday 26 Sep: sea day instead of Ensenada
- Monday 28 Sep: Mazatlán, one day earlier than originally scheduled, in place of Cabo San Lucas
- Tuesday 29 Sep: Puerto Vallarta added, 8am to 6pm
- Then two full sea days back to Los Angeles on 2 Oct
Royal Caribbean Blog summarized the same cuts: Ensenada and Cabo San Lucas removed; Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta on the revised route.
Exact all-aboard and sailaway clocks for Los Angeles were not republished in the sources reviewed. Keep your boarding window from Royal Caribbean.
Why
The guest email blames Hurricane Polo off western Mexico. The National Hurricane Center’s Intermediate Advisory 15A at 6am CST on Thursday 24 Sep 2026 still called Polo an extremely powerful Category 5 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds near 160 mph, centered about 175 miles west-southwest of Zihuatanejo and about 160 miles south of Manzanillo, moving northwest near 9 mph, with the core expected to stay offshore of southwestern Mexico before heading farther out to sea.
Royal Caribbean’s email, as quoted by Royal Caribbean Blog: “Your safety is our top priority… being onboard is one of the safest places to be because our ship can quickly move out of the way of any inclement weather.” Cruise Mummy quotes the same apology for the last-minute weather change.
Tours and compensation
Prepaid shore excursions booked through Royal Caribbean for Ensenada or Cabo San Lucas refund as onboard credit to the SeaPass account, usable anywhere on the ship, per both Tier 2 reports. Unused credit from those refunded tours is reimbursed to the credit card on the onboard account at the end of the sailing, per Royal Caribbean Blog.
Royal Caribbean Blog explicitly noted the guest email did not list a separate goodwill credit package for the itinerary change itself. Do not expect OBC beyond the tour refunds unless Royal Caribbean emails you something new.
Independent tours you bought outside Royal Caribbean for Ensenada or Cabo are your problem to cancel.
What you should do
If you are on the 25 Sep 2026 Los Angeles Navigator of the Seas departure, open the latest Royal Caribbean itinerary email and app update. Drop Ensenada and Cabo plans. Confirm Mazatlán on Monday 28 Sep and Puerto Vallarta Tuesday 29 Sep 8am–6pm. Check that cancelled Royal Caribbean tours posted as OBC. Watch later emails. Ovation of the Seas still showed an Ensenada call on 29 Sep in Cruise Mummy’s wrap-up; that is a different sailing, not a promise your ship will swing back north for Ensenada. Facts above follow Royal Caribbean Blog on 23 Sep 2026 and Cruise Mummy on 24 Sep 2026 quoting Royal Caribbean’s guest notice, plus NHC Advisory 15A on 24 Sep 2026 for the storm.
