Japan’s first Disney cruise ship has a name. It is Disney Imagination, and it is set to sail from Tokyo in spring 2029.

The Walt Disney Company, 13 Oct 2026, and an Oriental Land release issued as Disney Cruise Line Japan on 14 Oct 2026 both use that name. Cruise Industry News, 14 Oct 2026, reports the same name, the same season, and the same home region.

Who runs it?

Oriental Land operates the ship as Disney Cruise Line Japan. Oriental Land also operates Tokyo Disney Resort under license from Disney. The 14 Oct release says Tokyo International Cruise Terminal is the primary homeport.

Disney’s newsroom calls Disney Imagination the newest ship in the Wish class. The Tokyo ceremony included Yumiko Takano, chairperson and CEO of Oriental Land; Ryotaro Shiiba, president of Oriental Land Cruise Co.; Natacha Rafalski, president of Disney Signature Experiences; and Tracy Wilson, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line Operations.

Disney Believe is the Wish-class ship already set for Port Everglades on 18 Dec 2027. The booking plan for that ship is in the homeport post.

What is on the stern, and what is inside?

The stern carries Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Disney’s newsroom says Ariel, alongside Sebastian and friends, uses a dinglehopper to draw the ship’s name. The Oriental Land release says Ariel joins Sebastian, the court composer crab, to paint the name.

The Oriental Land release also lists a theater with seating for more than 1,300, about 30 food and beverage venues, and three main dining restaurants, each with its own theme and menu. It says the photos are concept images. The picture on this post is the rendering from Disney’s 13 Oct page.

Disney’s newsroom says onboard experiences and future itineraries will be announced later. The Oriental Land release does not print a booking date, a fare, or a port list beyond the Tokyo terminal.

Same-day trade reports also print a passenger count and a shipyard. Those figures are not in the two English line releases read on 14 Oct, and the trade reports do not match each other. This post leaves them out.

What this means for you

You cannot book Disney Imagination from these releases. If you want a Disney cruise from Tokyo, the name and the spring 2029 season are public, and the itinerary is not. If you want a Disney cruise you can price this month, Disney Believe’s public booking opens 19 Oct 2026 from Port Everglades. Facts above follow Disney’s newsroom on 13 Oct, the Oriental Land release on 14 Oct, and Cruise Industry News the same day.
