5 Things Royal Caribbean Just Confirmed About Sandals

Royal Caribbean Group signed the Sandals deal. This companion walks the five passenger-impact points from the video. The signed terms are in the SEC Form 8-K dated Sep. 23, 2026 and the joint announcement on PR Newswire. For the same-day deal bulletin, see Royal Caribbean Group confirms 50% Sandals and Beaches stake. The earlier rumor roundup is Royal Caribbean in reported talks for a Sandals stake.

Watch the video above for the full rundown. The booking rules below are what you can hold today.

1. The signed 50% deal

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. filed an SEC Form 8-K dated Sep. 23, 2026. It says the company entered definitive agreements to acquire a 50% equity interest in the Sandals and Beaches Resorts business for a base purchase price of about $3.0 billion in cash.

Morgan Stanley committed debt financing to fund the investment. Close is expected in early 2027, subject to customary approvals and closing conditions.

The joint PR Newswire release matches those terms and adds that the price represents about 10x forward EBITDA. That multiple is for investors. It does not change your cabin fare or resort rate tonight.

2. Your bookings stay put until close

The 8-K and joint release both say existing reservations continue as usual. Loyalty programs continue as usual. Resort operations continue as usual. Cruise operations continue as usual.

Do not cancel a Royal, Celebrity, Silversea, Sandals, or Beaches booking because ownership is shifting at the corporate level. Until close, treat land and sea as separate products with the same rules you already booked under.

3. Reciprocal loyalty is a plan, not a perk grid

Jason Liberty told Travel Weekly the plan is for a Sandals customer on a Group ship to be recognized for status, and the reverse for cruise guests at the resorts. He also said it will require technology development.

That quote reaches this draft through Tier 2 coverage. No program name, tier map, lounge access list, or launch date is published.

Book for the cruise or resort you want now. Do not book a 2027 trip on the promise of status that does not exist in writing yet.

4. More Sandals and Beaches keys are the growth story

Sandals.com markets 17 adults-only Caribbean resorts as of this Sep. 27, 2026 check. Beaches.com currently lists two open family resorts: Turks & Caicos and Negril.

The joint release says Beaches is coming soon to Exuma in The Bahamas, Barbados, Runaway Bay in Jamaica, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. No opening dates appear in that release.

If you need a family Beaches stay in 2026 or early 2027, plan around the two open resorts until Sandals publishes bookable dates for the new sites.

5. Cruise beach clubs are not the next product

Liberty said the priority is adding more keys and experiences first. Only then would the companies look at available land or other opportunities. Separate Tier 2 coverage says the deal is not about selling cruise guests Sandals day passes, and Sandals leadership has pushed back on the idea of resorts becoming cruise day-trip stops.

Royal Beach Club style products may come later from land the JV controls. Nothing of that kind is announced for Sandals or Beaches properties today. Book a cruise beach club only where Royal Caribbean already sells one.

What you should do

Keep the cruise or resort you already booked unless your own plans change. Watch for a published loyalty grid and Beaches opening dates after the early 2027 close window. Until those documents land, do not rearrange a trip around status or a resort that is only listed as coming soon.
